In just under a month, around 400 incoming Freshmen and their families will descend upon Freed-Hardeman University. This year, we have stepped it up a notch and will truly roll out the "red carpet" for our new students. August 18 will be the date of the event called "Welcome Home." This event offers a full day of activities and information When students first arrive, they will go to the Gardner Center, where they will be checked in, go through their Financial Aid checklist, get their Student ID made, pick up their iPad and make several other stops along the way. Once this process is complete, students can move into their dorm. We will have helpers all along the way, including at each dorm, to help people move in. After the student moves in (or if they want to eat lunch at this point) they can join us in the Commons for a huge cook out! We will have hotdogs, hamburgers, and all the "fixins" for a great lunch. During and after lunch, students and their families can join us at "FHU101," which lasts from 10am-2pm. FHU101 is an area where students will learn firsthand about all the services that FHU provides. They will have the opportunity to meet professional club sponsors, learn about new majors, sign up for auditions, and get more information on many facets of the university. Also, there will be an area called "WEST TN101 where students can get information from vendors, restaurants, merchants and people in the Henderson and West Tennessee community. After lunch and perusing the tents and tables, parents and students can continue moving in and getting settled.
As we said, this is going to be a great event with faculty and staff helping our new families feel welcome and loved. We are excited about our new group of students and we want to welcome them with open arms. You're at FHU.......WELCOME HOME!
