Dr. Paul Fader used the following technologies during his Fall 2012 BIO 110 – Principles of Biology class.
He used MasteringBiology from Pearson. This allowed the instructor to pick and choose from review questions, videos, animations and learning activities. He selected assignments from each chapter and created an assignment that was posted to BlackBoard Learn. He also utilized BlackBoard Learn to have the students turn in lab assignments.
He used ScreenFlow to create an overview of the PowerPoints. He provided a summary of the main concepts that were introduced in the chapters of the textbook. The ScreenFlow videos were then uploaded to BlackBoard.
He used Google Docs to create a spreadsheet that allowed the students to enter data from an experiment. This produced a class data sheet that all students could see. Students then created a graph either in MS Excel or Google Docs from the class data.
He also used the ShowMe App on his iPad to work genetic problems that were then projected to the screen using AirServer.
