I’d say it’s pretty typical of most students at Freed Hardeman University to change their major at lease once. I guess you could say I’m in the majority and one of those “typical” students. Surprise. With that being said, I couldn’t help but feel a little behind in classes, especially after changing majors. I figured I’d take a couple short courses in the summer to compensate.
However, one Sunday, a few weeks later, I got a little spontaneous. I was sitting in church and suddenly realized that I did NOT want to spend my whole summer stuck in a classroom. I wanted to be a youth intern. (This next part I’m a little embarrassed of) When I got home from church, I “googled” Church of Christ intern. This random church in Huntsville (where I grew up) was one of the first links to pop up. I clicked the link, filled out an application (which was late, by the way), got an interview (over skype), and received a call a few weeks later from the youth minister telling me that they were offering me the position.
Do I believe in luck? Not really. Do I believe in God’s providence? Most definitely. I’ve prayed that God will open doors, and He did. God has given me an amazing opportunity this summer, and I’m going to walk through this door confidently and humbly realizing that God receives the credit for any gift I receive in my life.
