As reflected in the recent comments of our President, Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) has a deep appreciation for the impact that the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is having on the FHU family, the Henderson-Chester County Community, and our nation. In response to this global health crisis, Freed-Hardeman has requested that faculty migrate the majority of their traditional courses to a digital learning environment. In support of this request, the Center for Instructional Innovation (CII) has developed the Rapid Response Plan to assist faculty and students in this transition.
This website contains various resources that will help faculty plan, develop, and administer distance learning courses. These resources include video tutorials and user guides that focus on the delivery of course content and learning activities in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). In addition, an upcoming schedule of faculty training and workshops is provided. Finally, a list of support options has been published that provide faculty support, both internally and externally.
The website also offers resources for students that will help them be successful as distant learners. This includes Canvas video tutorials and user guides. It also provides information regarding student services and how these may be accessed remotely. These resources have been designed to help students transition to a distance learning environment.
The Center for Instructional Innovation will use this section to publish announcements for faculty, staff, and students regarding our transition to online delivery:

The response to COVID-19, both nationally and locally, has been unprecedented and is impacting each of us on a personal level. This includes how you, as a Freed-Hardeman faculty member, will teach your courses in the coming months. While many of you have mastered online instruction, others have never taught an online course or conducted a web conference session. We appreciate the challenges that the University's response to COVID-19 has place before you, and we are making every effort to ease this transition as much as possible.
To that end, the Center for Instructional Innovation has created a Faculty Information webpage that condenses the essential information you will need to make this transition. On this page, you will find video tutorials and user guides that will help you complete various tasks. In addition, you will find information regarding Canvas training sessions and boot camps where you may come and receive hands-on assistance in developing and deploying your courses in Canvas. Finally, you'll learn how to receive support as you transition to a distance learning environment.
Visit the Faculty Information webpage for more information.
Every member of the Freed-Hardeman family is feeling the stress and uncertainly that the COVID-19 health crisis has brought to bear on our University, our community, and our nation. No doubt, you as a Freed-Hardeman student have many questions about FHU's response to COVID-19, including the transition to a distance learning environment. The University recognizes the many challenges that this transition will bring for many of our students. For this reason, the Center for Instructional Innovation is creating a Student Information webpage that contains valuable information for becoming a successful "distant learner."
This webpage contains video tutorials and user guides to help you learn how to access and complete coursework in Canvas. In addition, you will learn about support options for receiving online and telephone support. Finally, the page provides information regarding student services and how these services may be accessed remotely. Collectively, the information on this page will assist you as you continue your pursuit of your academic goals.
Visit the Student Information webpage for more information.
