Position Summary:

As Assistant/Associate Professor of Education, the full-time, tenure-track faculty member is responsible for teaching graduate and/or undergraduate educational research courses as well as PreK-12 education and/or educational leadership courses in face-to-face and in digital learning environments, advising, and providing service to the university, community, and profession. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in mentoring doctoral students in the successful completion of the dissertation process and in teaching quantitative and qualitative research methods. Experience with the accreditation process of an academic unit (i.e. SACSCOC, CAEP-NCATE) is also preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate education courses as assigned annually within the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. The teaching load for tenure-track faculty is normally 27 semester hours over the academic year.
  • Advise students at the graduate level and mentor student dissertations, theses, and other related projects.
  • Assist in the strategic development and growth of graduate education programs including the Ed.D., Ed.S., and M.Ed. programs.
  • Participate in training/implementation of new program changes.
  • Model technology integration in classroom experiences.
  • Complete duties relative to CAEP (NCATE), SACSCOC, and other accrediting agencies and/or university committees.
  • Collaborate with local school systems in the preparation of teachers and administrators.
  • Complete individual evaluations of student performance.
  • Serve on university committees as assigned.
  • Engage in scholarly activity.
  • Contribute to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.
  • Attend daily Chapel.
  • Participate in university recruitment activities.
  • Participate in activities and stay informed about trends in teacher and administrator effectiveness.
  • This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. This position may temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.


Doctoral degree (Ed.D., Ph.D.) required in educational research with at least 18 graduate hours in quantitative and qualitative research methods; preference will be given to applicants with experience in mentoring doctoral students in the successful completion of the dissertation process and in teaching quantitative and qualitative research methods; experience in higher education teaching and/or experience in the public schools as a teacher preferred; demonstrated competencies in educational research; strong interpersonal skills and teamwork; strong oral and written communication skills; sound and creative instructional skills; and technological knowledge.
