Position Summary:

This position will provide training and instructional design expertise to faculty, including developing and delivering faculty training, managing course development projects, consulting with faculty in new course design, revamping existing traditional and online courses, and creating online and web-enhanced courses that are pedagogically sound and use appropriate technologies and media. The Instructional Design Specialist will assist faculty with coordination and administration of the design, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional technology and evaluation of instructional technology products for use in all types of courses.

Essential Functions: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Develop, deliver, evaluate, and consistently improve online and face-to-face-training for web enhanced instruction with a particular emphasis on curriculum design and the pedagogy of teaching with Web 2.0 technologies.
  2. Collaborate and consult with faculty on the effective use of instructional design strategies, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software.
  3. Manage course projects from inception to completion.
  4. Develop curriculum guides for courses and/or program components.
  5. Design and supervise production of learning resources in variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support curriculum offerings.
  6. Provide design and production assistance to faculty in the development of electronic delivery methods.
  7. As technology and software development products advance, explore and make recommendations for multimedia software for use by faculty and others in school.
  8. Provide professional and technical support and training to faculty and students.

Requirements:

Masters or doctoral degree desired in appropriate field; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledgeable in instructional design theories and methodologies. Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new procedures, systems and software applications. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong project management skills and attention to detail in assigned work.
