Innovation and Technology

Mission Statement

The mission of Innovation and Technology is to provide the technology infrastructure and support necessary for the institution to meet its strategic goals and objectives. It also serves to encourage, promote and facilitate the innovative use of technology in faculty pedagogy and student learning.

Innovation and Technology (Information Technology and the Center for Instructional Technology) consists of four main areas. These areas work together in providing information technology support and services to both academic and non-academic related functions of the university. They are:


Instructional Technology

Instructional Technology provides strategic leadership to shape the university's pedagogical technology initiatives. This area is staffed by AB White and Patrick Bolton. Instructional Technology will continually introduce faculty and students to innovative technology models thereby creating a culture of "technology enhanced" teaching and learning.


Network Operations

Network Operations includes all support for the Local Area Network, Internet connectivity, voice (telephones) and video services (Cable TV), multi-media teaching tools, data and video wiring, and all university servers. The Network Support area is staffed by two network administrators: Greg Maples and Tim Heath and a plant cabling administrator, Linard Richardson


Web Services

Web Services provides leadership and support for Freed-Hardeman's website and all web application development. Web Services is staffed by the University Webmaster, Michael Plyler, and Web Programmer, Michael Clark. Design support for our website is provided by the Web Designer, Erin Marshall from OMUR. Web Services also utilizes several student interns for project development. More information about FHU's project development can be found on our Project Development website.


Workstation Support

The area of Workstation Support provides support for all university-owned computers, software and peripherals. Workstation Support is staffed by Chris Hodges, Jeff Dove, David Novak and student workers.
