About this Site

Welcome to the new Freed-Hardeman University website.

June 1, 2009 marks the end of Phase 1 of our 3 phase deployment for our new site.
Completion of our upgrade, and Phase 3) will occur by August 7, 2009.

Website Purpose Statement

The Freed-Hardeman University website exists to create a central location of information and ideas built to enhance relationships, inform our audience, and involve a diverse community, primarily future and current students, alumni and friends of the university, but also faculty, staff, administrators of FHU, the churches of Christ, and others interested in the university. This will be done through clear, persistent messages that encourage participation from our university community, allow audience feedback and opinions, and provide full accessibility to all of our users.

What's New?

There are several new items with our website. We took this redesign very seriously and incorporated these items into the new design and functionality:

 Relationship Dimension
(more personal stories, images, videos)
 Navigation and Design
(an improved look and interface)
 Technical Details
(improved functionality of the site)
 Aesthetic Appropriateness
(ensuring each page follows our style guide)
 Content of the Site
(easy-to-find, consistent information)

You will also notice a new integrated search engine, utility footer, event calendar and role-based navigation.

Our goal has been to make navigating our site as easy as possible and deliver consistent, relevant content/information to all of our visitors.

During the 2nd and 3rd phases of our deployment, we'll be continuing to add videos, personal stories, and images that give you a sense of what FHU is all about. Our website will always continue to evolve and improve to meet the needs of our target audiences.

The FHU Web Team

Robert Elliott     Web Developer,  Programming

There were also several different areas of campus that were instrumental in our completion of Phase 1 of our deployment plan.

The IT department was available to help migrate content from the old website and with troubleshooting project code. They helped migrate more than 300 pages of content within two week, while performing their normal daily duties.

OMUR provided some of the new content for the website, as well as, feature stories and the videos (which will be made available by the end of Phase 3 of our deployment). The amazing photographs that you will see throughout our website were taken by OMUR.
