BECKY’S NEW CAR

by Steven Dietz

AUGUST 24-26 at 7:00 p.m.
AUGUST 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Black Box Theatre

Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare. BECKY’S NEW CAR is a comedy that drives in the fast-lane, but with serious overtones that explores the road not taken. This FHU Alumni production is directed by Ryan Pickens.

by Donald Margulies

Based on the true story of a Swiss explorer who claimed to have had daring adventures in the Asian-Pacific, SHIPWRECKED! is a fun-filled production with a wealth of fantastic characters. Filled with exotic islanders, flying wombats, giant sea turtles, and a monstrous man-eating octopus, Margulies’ play examines how far we’re willing to blur the line between fact and fiction in order to leave our mark on the world. Lauded as “a ripping good yarn” by Variety, this show is an adventure tale with a twist that appeals to all ages. Directed by Jack Joiner.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

By Janet Allard and Michael Bigelow Dixon with Commonweal Theatre Company

From the novella by Charles Dickens

NOVEMBER 9-11 at 7:00 p.m.

NOVEMBER 11-12 at 2:00 p.m.

Blackbox Theatre

This holiday classic is creatively retold by an ensemble of performers who all take turns playing the play’s principle character. Once a miserly curmudgeon and now the most generous of men, Ebenezer Scrooge was transformed by the spirit of Christmas. Three of them in fact!. A joyous celebration that suggests we each have a little bit of Ebenezer Scrooge inside us and redemption is possible for even the hardest of hearts.

AN ILIAD

By Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare

based on Homer’s The Iliad, translated by Robert Fagles

APRIL 11-13 at 7:00 p.m.
Black Box Theatre

A lone figure steps onstage with only a suitcase and a burden. He must tell us a story. It’s a difficult one. Sometimes humorous. Often brutal. But he must tell it. And we are captivated from his first words. Achilles, Priam, Agamemnon, Helen. Their conflicts play out, not only in the past, but in war after war throughout history. And standing before us is the man who must tell that story again. This solo performance features Sir Nate Cass and directed by Kevin Record.
