Kenan Casey, a 2004 graduate of Freed-Hardeman, later attended Auburn University, where he completed his master’s and doctorate degrees in computer science. His research focused on computational intelligence and sensor networks, about which he wrote his dissertation. Dr. Casey soon discovered his passion for biologically inspired algorithms, specifically neuro-evolutionary algorithms, and began teaching at FHU in the summer of 2008. Dr. Casey now teaches web applications programming, computer networks, computer architecture and artificial intelligence.
Steve Browning has always been fascinated by computers and computing. After a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, Browning became a software engineer for General Dynamics before coming to Freed-Hardeman. He currently teaches software engineering, computer applications, algorithms and data structures, system administration and security, and introduction to system administration.
Patrick Evans received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and went on to the University of Mississippi to complete his doctorate in higher education. Dr. Evans currently provides statistical support for FHU faculty pursuing master’s and doctorate degrees and teaches Complex Analysis, Statistics, Business Statistics, College Algebra, Fundamental Concepts of Math, Foundations of Geometry, and The Real Number System.
Jamie Holtin graduated from Freed-Hardeman with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and began her graduate studies in mathematics at Tennessee Technological University the following year. She then accepted a position to teach at Freed-Hardeman and concurrently began working on her Master of Science in computer science from the University of Memphis. During this time Mrs. Holtin studied databases, data mining, neural networks and human and computer interaction. She completed her master’s degree in 2003. Because of her background in both mathematics and computer sciences, Mrs. Holtin is able to teach both subjects while enjoying the diversity of students and material. She now teaches discrete and basic mathematics, pre-algebra, programming, calculus and discrete structures which combines the topics of both math and computer science.

Natalie Zlatovich graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in the fall of 1996 with her B.S. in Biology. In the spring of 1997, she married Mitch, whom she met while a student at FHU. She has been working as the administrative assistant since the spring of 1998 and considers it a true blessing to be able to work at such a wonderful university.
