Loan Information - Preferred Lender Lists
Determining a lender for your Federal Stafford loans can be a very difficult and
confusing process.  Schools are not required to provide preferred lists, but many schools do so as a convenience to its student borrowers.  FHU's Office of Financial Aid feels that it has taken great care in determining the best possible choices of lenders for our preferred lender lists.  Lenders from across the nation were asked to submit information covering a broad spectrum of criteria.

Please note that a student borrower is not required to use any lender for FHU's Preferred Lender Lists.  FHU will not deny, refuse, or delay any loan application or loan certification process if a lender is chosen by a borrower that is not on FHU's Preferred Lender List.  Any student is encouraged to contact other lenders that participate in any loan programs to make any choice of a lender outside of FHU's Preferred Lender List.  Borrowers are also encouraged to contact lenders on FHU's Preferred Lender Lists for any additional information as well as any clarification of information provided.

Information was submitted and evaluated from each lender concerning the following criteria:
 Borrower benefits Lender Stability
Quality of Products  Servicing Standards and Statistics
Mission Statements  Commitment to default management
 Default aversion  Default Rates
Ease of Application Process  Proactive customer communications
Loan and debt management for borrowers  Interacting with school processing system
Accomodation for variety of processing scenarios  Disbursement options
Processing and updating loan transactions  Relationships with offices other than Financial Aid
Source and stability of loan capital  Contact information and advice for borrowers

(Other factors were considered, but the factors above were considered a priority.)
