| Starting
in the fall of 2003, Freed-Hardeman University
and Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, Tenn.)
will start the President’s Cup. The President’s
Cup will see the top eight men’s players
from each team play a ‘Ryder Cup’
format competition. In November of 2003, FHU will
host the event at the Bear Trace at Chickasaw.
On Monday, November 3,
the teams will tee off at 8 a.m. and play the
first nine holes in a two-man scramble match play
format. The back nine holes will be a two-man
alternate shot match play event. After lunch,
the teams will go back out to play nine more holes
in head-to-head match play. A team will need 8
½ points to win the cup.
Head coaches Gregg Lee
(FHU) and Jacob Ward (TNU) came up with the idea
to make it an annual event that finishes up the
fall season for both teams. “We see Trevecca
a lot at tournaments throughout the year, and
our teams have formed a great relationship with
each other,” said Lee. “We know that
it’s a great way to end the season because
both teams will have fun with the day,”
Ward said. |
