Three Lady Lions Named All-Region

Three Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions were named to the All-Region XI Team on the first day of the regional tournament in Henderson. Brittany Bradford, Tarrah Tucker, and Britney Caldwell were among the 18 players selected to the team.

Henderson, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions softball program has inked its third signee for the upcoming season. According to FHU Coach Todd Humphry, Augusta McClary, a middle infielder/pitcher from Waverly, Tenn., has signed with the Lady Lions for the 2007-2008 season.

Henderson, Tenn. – Freed-Hardeman University head softball coach Todd Humphry has announced the second signing for the 2007-2008 season. Brittany Steverson, a centerfielder/shortstop from Burns, Tenn., has signed a letter of intent to play for the Lady Lions in the fall.

FHU Softball Lands First Signee for 07-08 Season

Henderson, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion softball program has landed its first signee for the 07-08 season, according to head coach Todd Humphry. Jill Brock, a short stop from McNairy Central High School, has signed a letter of intent and will attend Freed-Hardeman University in the fall.

Lady Lion’s Run Falls Short in Region XI Tournament

Henderson, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion softball team’s post season tear ended on Thursday night at the hands of conference foe Union University in the Region XI tournament. In the two team’s seventh meeting of the 2007 season, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Lions 6-3, eliminating them from the region tournament and ending their national tournament run.

Four Lady Lions Earn All-Region Honors

JACKSON, Tenn. - In a ceremony during day one of the NAIA Region XI Tournament in Jackson, the All-Region XI Honors were announced. Freed-Hardeman University was represented by Britney Caldwell, Tarrah Tucker, and Brittany Bradford on the first team, while Brittany Johnson received second team honors.

Henderson, Tenn. – The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released its 2007 Softball Scholar Athlete team. Freed-Hardeman University’s Brittany Bradford and Alyssa Maberry represent the Lady Lions on the team.

Henderson, Tenn. - After finishing as the runner-up in the TranSouth Athletic Conference tournament May 3-5, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion softball team has received a #3 seed in the Region XI tournament.

Six Lady Lions Earn TranSouth Softball Honors

Henderson, Tenn. - The TranSouth Athletic Conference has released it's 2007 All-Conference team. Six Lady Lions represented Freed-Hardeman University on the team, including right handed pitcher/third baseman Brittany Caldwell who was named the Freshman of the Year. Caldwell was joined on the All-Conference First Team by teammates Brittany Johnson, Brittany Bradford, and Tarrah Tucker. Adrienne Gann and Jacqueline Stinson received Second Team honors.

Lady Lions a Surprise in the TranSouth Tournament

Henderson, Tenn. - After playing five games on the final day of the TranSouth tournament, the Lady Lions left the field cold, wet, and tired---and just one run away from a championship. FHU started the day with a game at 11 a.m., rested for one game, and then played four straight until 1:30 a.m. when they dropped their final game 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

2007 TranSouth Softball Pre-Season Poll Released

JACKSON, Tenn. - The 2007 version of the TranSouth Conference Softball Pre-Season Poll, as voted by the coaches, has been released. Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.), the defending TranSouth regular season and tournament champion, has been selected to repeat in 2007 by gaining eight of the nine first place votes.

Pickler and Pierce Named Academic All-Americans

Marie Pickler and Rachael Pierce have been honored as NAIA Scholar Athletes. To receive this honor, an athlete must be a junior and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and participate in 1/3 of the total games played by her team.

FHU Freshman Has Jersey Retired

On December 9, members of the Lady Lion Softball team traveled to Centerville, TN and Hickman County High School for the jersey retirement of FHU freshman Tarrah Tucker. Tarrah became the first softball player in HCHS history to be so honored.

JACKSON, Tenn. – The 2006 TranSouth Conference Pre-Season Softball poll has been released. This poll is voted by the five head coaches in the TranSouth. Union University is this year’s pick to win the league with Martin Methodist in a close second.

LADY LION SOFTBALL RECEIVES BID TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

JACKSON, TENN-The Freed-Hardeman University softball team received a bid to advance to the Region XI NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 1998, May 8. The double elimination tournament will be hosted by Union University at Fesmire Field in Jackson, Tenn., May 11-13.
