The Lady Lions swept Lambuth University Tuesday in Jackson, 11-3 and 6-3. The Lions put up seven runs in the first inning of the first game and went on to win 11-3. Cassie Smith picked up the win to move her to 1-2 on the season. The second game saw the Lady Lions winning 6-3 on the arm of Tracie Tiensvold who struck out nine. The Lady Lions move to 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

FHU softball evens their record to 4-4 on the year with two wins over Culiver Stockton Thursday afternoon in Henderson. In game one eight hits made the difference as FHU pushed a run across in the bottom of the ninth to win 4-3. Cassie Smith picked up her second win of the year. Smith is now 2-2 on the year. The Lady Lions scored in five straight innings to defeat Culiver Stockton 8-0 in game two. Tracie Tiensvold improves her record to 2-2 with the win. FHU will play at home again on Saturday March 15, against Campbellsville University. Game time is 1 p.m.

FHU put up a run in the third and one in the fifth to make the difference in their 2-1 win over Williams Baptist College Thursday afternoon in Walnut Ridge, Ark. In Game two FHU posted eight runs on 4 hits and shut out Williams Baptist to complete the sweep. The Lady Lions move to 6-4 overall. FHU will play next on Saturday March 15, against Campbellsville University. The double-header will start at 1 p.m.

The Lady Lions split with the Univ. of Missouri St. Louis on Tuesday, 5-4 and 7-4. Cassie Smith picked up a win in the first game for the Lady Lions as the Lady Lions won in ten innings. Tracie Tiensvold picked up the loss in the second game as the Lady Lions were out hit 13-5.

Fhu lost game one 7-3 to Cumberland University in Lebennon, Tenn., Thursday afternoon. Offensively Kimmie Sabiel hit a two-run homerun for the Lady lions. In game two Tracie Tiensvold picked up the win 5-3 over Cumberland. FHU pounded out seven hits scoring one in the second, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh. The Lady Lions are 8-6 overall and 1-3 in TranSouth play.

FHU's Darian Denton hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the 7th to lift the Lady Lions to a 4-3 win over Trevecca in the first game of the 2003 TranSouth Conference Softball Tournament. Rine Phelps hit a solo homerun with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 3, but FHU came back to score one in the bottom of the seventh for the one run win. FHU plays Lee University at 4 p.m. this afternoon and Trevecca will play at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Martin Methodist scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Cumberland University 7-6 in game 2 of the TranSouth Conference Softball Tournament. The RedHawks were lifted by Angie Beasley's pinch-hit three-run homerun as they came back from a 6-1 deficit. Martin Methodist plays the #1 seed Lady Bulldogs from Union University at 6 p.m. Wednesday as Cumberland prepares for a 11 a.m. loser bracket game on Thursday.

Number one seed Union University took care of business in their first game with a 4-2 win over Martin Methodist. Martin Methodist defeated Cumberland earlier in the day to meet Union in the nightcap. Leah Gronberg (21-6) picked up the win. In her complete game performance Grongerg allowed only 2 runs on for hits. Offensively Amanda Dickson came up with the clutch hit in the bottom of the six that scored two runs.

Cumberland scored two in the third, one in the sixth, and one in the seventh to down Freed-Hardeman 4-2 in the third round of TranSouth play. The Lady Lions were eliminated from conference play with the loss. Brandy Baird had a homerun for CU. Cumberland will meet the winner of the Treveca - Martin Methodist game Thursday at 6 p.m.

Martin Methodist out hit Trevecca 10-5 as the RedHawks defeated the Trojans 3-2. Nicole Ray went 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs in the win for the RedHawks. Trevecca, along with Freed-Hardeman, is eliminated from the 2003 TranSouth Conference Softball Tournament as Martin Methodist faces Cumberland Thursday night at 6 p.m. Games are running about 45 minutes behind schedule due to a rain delay.

Mary Kosco threw a complete game to give Union University the TranSouth Conference Softball Championship with a 3-1 win over Lee University. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Amy Mejia who was 1 for 3 with an RBI. The Lady Bulldogs scored one in the first and two in the third and cruised their way to a championship. Jamie Ensminger picked up the loss for the Lady Flames who finished runner-up.
