Summertown, TN- Emily Franks, an incoming freshman for the FHU Lady Lion basketball team, was recently awarded the inaugural Mallory Scott Memorial Scholarship. Mallory Scott was a classmate and close friend of Emily’s at Summertown High School who was killed in a car accident. The Summertown community has held fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for the memorial scholarship. Through the town’s efforts over $40,000 has been raised for the scholarship fund. |

Henderson, Tenn. – Freed-Hardeman University’s Ashlee Robertson was named to the 2006 WBCA/Kodak All-America Women’s Basketball Team. Robertson was honored along with nine other NAIA players from across the country. This award is given to those who exemplify good sportsmanship and attitude, their impact on the team, present year statistics and achievements, success of their team, and academic eligibility. This is the second year she has received this honor. |

NAIA National Tournament Bracket Released |

JACKSON, Tenn. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the bracket for the 26th Annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship. The 32-team single-elimination tournament is hosted by the City of Jackson and will be played March 15-21 at Oman Arena. All times are Central Standard Time. The championship game will be televised live nationally on College Sports Television (CSTV). |

That’s because the No. 2 Ranked FHU Lady Lions defeated the No. 5 Ranked Trevecca Nazarene University Lady Trojans Monday night for the third time this season. The 71-64 FHU victory gave the Lady Lions their third consecutive TranSouth Tournament Championship for the Lady Lions. |

Freed-Hardeman took two of the three awards, with Kera Bergeron named Newcomer of the Year, and Dale Neal the Coach of the Year. Trevecca’s Jackie Weaver took Player of the Year. |

Henderson, Tenn. – Freed-Hardeman University senior Kodak All-American Ashlee Robertson achieved another career triumph as her team faced off against cross-town rival Union University on Saturday. Robertson scored 17 points against No. 4 Union bringing her career total points scored to 2,019. This places Ashlee as the second highest all-time scorer in Lady Lions’ basketball history. Lady Lion Alum Kara Sanders (1996-00) formerly held this space with 2,005 career points. |

Henderson, Tenn. - Freed-Hardeman’s Ashlee Robertson scored her 2000th career point in her team’s victory over conference foe Lyon College Thursday night in Batesville, Arkansas. Ashlee scored 10 points in the game helping the Lady Lions chalk up their 23rd consecutive victory. This win also clinched the TranSouth Conference Regular Season Basketball Championship for the Lady Lions for the third year in a row. |

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Stacy Myers of Freed-Hardeman and Josephine Owino of Union University were named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for the week ending February 12, 2006.
Myers, a 6'1" junior post from Waynesboro, Tenn., helped lead NAIA No. 2 Freed-Hardeman to a 2-0 week with a pair of conference wins over Blue Mountain and Martin Methodist. In the 93-48 win over Blue Mountain Myers scored 26 points and had four rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals. Myers was nearly perfect from the field in hitting 10-of-11 from the field, 2-of-2 from three-point range, and hit all four free-throws. |

Eagleville, TN- Chelsie Alsup from Eagleville High School has chosen to continue her basketball career at Freed-Hardeman University as a Lady Lion. Alsup, a 5’9 senior guard, is currently averaging 19.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. She is listed as the #7 girls’ scorer in middle Tennessee by the Tennessean. |

Henderson, Tenn.- Lady Lion Basketball Head Coach Dale Neal recently passed a milestone in his coaching career at Freed-Hardeman University. On January 14, Coach Neal won his 300th game at FHU when the Lady Lions defeated Lambuth University 73-57. |

Perry County Standout Joins Lady Lions |

Linden, TN- Perry County standout Kristal Edney has chosen to continue her basketball career at Freed-Hardeman University as a Lady Lion next season. After missing part of this season due to a foot injury, Edney is working hard to get back to full speed. She is currently averaging 10 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Edney was recently named a nominee for the McDonald’s All-American team. She is one of ten players to be nominated from Tennessee. |

Bledsoe Joins Lady Lions from UNO |

Henderson, TN- Kori Bledsoe has decided to return to her home state of Tennessee to finish her basketball career. Bledsoe has been playing at the University of New Orleans since graduating from Fairview High School in 2004. As a freshman at UNO, she started 22 games at the point guard position averaging 3.6 assists per game. Kori’s decision to leave UNO came after hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, forcing her team to move to Tyler, Texas, in order to continue with the season. |

Collinwood, TN- Lady Lion senior guard Ashlee Robertson recently had her jersey retired at her alma mater Collinwood High School. As a four year starter for the Lady Trojans, Ashlee was named to the All-District and All-Region teams each year. During her senior season, Robertson was named a Miss Basketball Finalist, AP All-State, and District MVP. Ashlee averaged 30 points per game her senior year and scored 2,300 points during her high school career. |
