With temperatures hovering around 70, it’s not exactly shaping up to be a White Christmas, but that didn’t stop Freed-Hardeman’s Student Government Association from helping campus get into the Christmas spirit on Friday. It was time again for the annual “A Freed-Hardeman Christmas,” an evening of caroling, fun, and holiday cheer.
Sponsored by SGA, “A Freed-Hardeman Christmas” is student planned and produced, and the proceeds benefit the Shane Ruiz Memorial Fund, which provides financial assistance to students in emergency situations. Amid a cheerfully decorated Loyd Auditorium, dozens of cast members entertained concert-goers with renditions of both beloved, traditional carols such as “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Carol of the Bells,” and newer favorites like “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “Mistletoe,” and Straight No Chaser’s version of “The 12 Days of Christmas.”
The evening concluded with the highlight of a visit from Santa Clause himself, along with his wife, Mrs. Clause. Children (and more than a few college students, too) were invited to share their Christmas lists and have their picture taken on Santa’s lap. All in all, the night was a memorable one, and the perfect start to FHU’s holiday season.
