Before I came to FHU, I was blessed and fortunate to travel to Germany, Mexico, and Christmas Island for mission trips. Each trip was led and organized differently than the previous one. We learned a lot about the culture and the language before traveling to each country. I loved traveling and experiencing new cultures and new ways of living and thinking spiritually.
Beginning my freshman year at FHU, I learned about the abundant opportunities to share and organize in mission trips that students were actively participating in on campus and around the globe. I had signed up for multiple disaster relief campaigns in New Orleans and Haiti. Due to schedule conflicts and prior obligations, I was not able to attend these relief efforts.
It was not until my final spring semester that I took full advantage of the mission opportunity that was given to me. I decided to team up with a social club and travel to Tegucigalpa, Honduras for a weeklong mission campaign. You see, before this trip, I had not been on any other mission trip since my junior year in high school. That is way too long to not share the “good news” with the world. It was truly a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful experience that I will never forget. I plan on leading another group to the City of Children in Mexico this coming Spring.
God commands us in Matthew 28:19 to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Scripture after scripture reveals that Christians are to go and spread the gospel to everyone.
Maybe you are an amateur with mission trips or perhaps you grew up in the mission field. FHU offers multiple classes guided towards the missionary mind and way of prepping, as well as campaign opportunities. Whatever missionary background you may have, FHU provides you with the experience and preparation for missions.
