Lectureships aren’t only about seeing old friends and family members. The week is more about the in-depth learning one can have surrounded by wonderful Christian brothers and sisters on a fantastic Christian campus.
From the very first lecture to the very last, participants sit at the feet of ministers and elders from congregations around the world and delve into scriptures. All attendees are given the opportunity to dive deep into God’s Word and to discuss faith, salvation, and hot topic issues in today’s culture.
Dr. Ralph Gilmore, FHU Bible Professor, bravely monitors and conducts the daily Open Forum. The Open Forum consists of Dr. Gilmore moderating discussions among participants and answering questions submitted by the crowd. Lectureship guests are invited to approach microphones in the auditorium, and to get involved in the conversation by expressing their views. They are also invited to raise new topics for Dr. Gilmore to expand on.
The Open Forum was always a highlight of my week as a student. It shows that there are many opinions and topics that need to be discussed and explored among Christians. Dr. Gilmore and other men serve this week to explore scriptural foundations for beliefs and the Biblical basis for our actions and lives.
It is always important to read the Bible and stand by what it says. Mankind will always explore their own opinions and beliefs, but the Bible is always correct. “Be on your guard; stand firm in your faith; be men of courage; be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13).
