I love the morning market here in Verviers. It rocks. Verviers is not the largest of cities, but they go all out for their Saturday morning market. Street after street is packed with vendors selling their goods: electronics, clothing, food—pretty much anything you could imagine, you'll find it here, and at an awesome price to boot! For all you girls out there who love scarves, this is definitely the place to get them. We're not even halfway though this trip, and I've already bought twice as many scarves here as what I had at home. But you can find them for as cheap as €2.50. It. Is. AWESOME. And the food? You can often find people willing to hand out samples of some of their foods. One man was handing out samples of his Speculoos bread the other day—maybe one of the tastiest things ever.
My absolute favorite morning market moment happened last Saturday, which just happened to be my birthday. One thing about the morning market is that there is always something new and exciting to be found. So we were wandering about (mostly looking at scarves and skirts), when we happened upon the best, most exciting stall of morning market history. A STALL FULL OF CUTE FLUFFY ANIMALS! Ferrets, little birds, hamsters, mice...all precious and adorable. However, I am probably the biggest bunny-lover you will ever meet. And what should we see tucked in the corner but two cages full of the fluffiest, most precious, sweetest baby bunnies I have ever seen. Oh my goodness. Birthday=BEYOND made. I pet, held, and snuggled those bunnies to death. No words can express the cuteness I was witness to that day.
If that doesn't make you want to come to Europe, I don't know what will (besides tantalizing food, incredible sights, breath-taking views, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and tremendous personal growth, maybe. But bunnies always take precedence, right?).
