Last night was Halloween Trick-or-Treating at good ole FHU. It actually gave me a reason to decorate. Kids from all over Henderson come to the girls dorms for an hour, because we aren't scary like boys are, and trick or treat. We ran out of candy REALLY quickly in our room, because as much as I love my roommate, she said, "AW! You're cute! I'll give you 12 pieces of candy!" (She's a softy when it comes to children in costumes) Some of the cutest kids ever were walking around. My favorite was some brothers and sisters, one dressed as a hamburger, one as french fries, and one as a coke. I laughed...alot. People around here get into Halloween..for real.
So, after all the cute princesses, happy meals, fairies, and ninjas left our dorms, the girls got to go to the guys dorms. I know, right?!? Freed-Hardeman girls in boys dorms! Crazy, right? It was lots of fun. People played loud music, lots of pictures were taken, guys handed out hot dogs, and we all looked ridiculous. Oh, but it gets better. The guys got to come to girls dorms, too! It gave most girls motivation to clean. So it was definitely a good thing. My lovely boyfriend even bought me my favorite candy! YAY FOR CHOCOLATE!
I've never seen so many adults in costume in my life. Some were hilarious, some were just...bad, and some were super scary. Like, whoever decided fake blood is cute all over everywhere....you were wrong. Fake spider webs are super messy, by the way. And I've learned that just because some guys are in college, they're still dumb and destructive. But, overall, last night was wonderful. Seeing the people I love + costumes + candy = MAGIC. Happy Halloween :)

Apparently, I'm not American because I've never carved a pumpkin. Thank goodness, I changed that last night. Anthony and I went through TONS of pumpkins, before we found good ones to carve. Well-let's be for real. He went through the pumpkins while I stood there and said whether I liked the way the pumpkin looked. We finally found two. Mine was prettier-but he can't accept that. We went to my house and got everything together to prepare for this epic carving.
trash bags. knives. spoons. pumpkins. marker. AND THE CARVING BEGAN.
Deciding what to put on a pumpkin is harder than you'd think. I finally decided on a little girl and a flower. Anthony decided he was carving a house. My little girl was pretty grand. My flower...well...it looked like a palm tree/giant leaf. Anthony's house was just...a fail. But he made it into a pretty great face, instead. haha. It was definitely fun. I put gross pumpkin guts on him. I'm definitely getting in the Halloween spirit and I'm super excited. :) I'm definitely realizing more and more everyday how blessed I am. Now.... GO CARVE PUMPKINS.

Well these past few weeks have definitely been hectic. With midterms and cheerleading and social clubs and friends, I definitely needed some time with my family. A few weeks ago, my parents decided that we were going to go to the Alabama vs. Ole Miss homecoming game. Even though we're from good ole Tennessee, we sure do love our University of Alabama football. So Friday night we drove to Alabama and spent the night with my grandparents and Saturday we got up and headed to Tuscaloosa, where we were going to meet our dear friends that were accompanying us to the game.
So, before I came to FHU, I thought I'd love to attend a state school. As much as I love my crimson tide, this weekend definitely made me appreciate the amazing people and the influences that surround me at Freed-Hardeman. The football was amazing. Spending time with my 15 year old brother Ryan was great. Spending time with one of my best friends was great. Spending time with my family was great. Coming back to Freed-Hardeman afterwards was amazing. ROLL TIDE.

Only in the great town of Henderson, Tennessee will you experience the most random weather ever. Just giving an update, last week's temperatures were in the 90s. Do you want to know what the temperature was tonight? 55 DEGREES. It's now time to pull out the sweatsuits. I know that lots of students will be going home for the weekend, in order to get their fall and winter wardrobes. This should be super exciting. Now, if only, the trees would change and I had a cool boggin. :)

Peace. Love. Sigma Rho. That was the name of Sigma Rho's big event. It consisted of a pretty legit water balloon fight, snow cones, a devotional, and a slip 'n' slide. All was going well. John Ross led the devotional and then the fun began. The water balloon fight was crazy and definitely lasted for a long while. Every member of Sig had to make 100 water balloons, so they lasted long enough for a great water balloon fight. :)
Now that everyone was wet, it was time to go to the slip 'n' slide. It was down the hill next to the science building and Bader gym. Everyone was having a blast. Well, except one person: Suzanne. Suzanne lives next to me and is possibly the sweetest person....ever. While everyone went down the slip 'n' slide, she was asked to stand at the bottom and record people coming down.
Everyone who had wanted to go down the slip 'n' slide had been able to. Then some guys decided to run down the slip 'n' slide. The sad part: Suzanne was standing at the bottom, still. Pretty much, she got knocked into the road and hit her head on the pavement. It was NOT GOOD.
That girl didn't cry. Not once. After a night of being wet and cold, going to the doctor's office and getting into an argument with the nurse practitioner, my driving Suzanne way too fast to the ER, and steak and shake, we finally made it safely back to Henderson. I was amazed by how many people cared and checked on her.
My advice: Don't stand at the bottom of a slip 'n' slide. That was definitely a memorable night. :) I spent time with the people I love, even if it went from tons of fun to an ER run. Oh, and Suzanne is fine. She's an awesome friend, and I couldn't be more blessed than to be able to be constantly surrounded by these amazing people, no matter the situation.
