Welcome to Vantage Points, the blog of the Department of History, Philosophy, and Political Studies. Our title, Vantage Points, represents the approach that will chart this blog’s direction. On any issue, whether we are discussing history, philosophy, politics, law, or religion, there are multiple perspectives, different vantage points from which people analyze evidence and form judgments. Our blog posts, written by both faculty and students, will address issues of interest to our community of Christian scholars. We envision this blog being a meeting place where ideas are exchanged, tested, validated, and revised. In short, the blog will be central to fulfilling our department’s mission, as we affirm our belief that the best possible intellectual and spiritual outcome occurs in a community of Christian scholarship.
