Our new services dashboard lets you know what services are having issues.
Each incident includes details, letting users know when things were reported and when they should be back online.
Services Status Dashboard
As part of our ongoing initiatives to promote better business continuity practices for the university, IT has deployed the first phase of a services status dashboard.
We want to ensure that the lines of communication remain open in the event of email, Internet connectivity, telephone and cell service outages. The first step in this process has been to create a webpage where our users can go to find the current status of many of our highly used web/network services.
Whenever IT is alerted of a service outage or has updates regarding services, we will post updates on http://fhu.edu/dashboard. Our system will also send out Twitter alerts through the @fhu_it account.
Currently, we have 14 different systems that are actively monitored in which updates are given. One of the ways that we are alerted to issues is when our users experience problems and contact the HelpDesk. All FHU students, faculty, staff and administrators can submit HelpDesk tickets by sending an email to email@example.com, by calling x6111 or by logging onto the HelpDesk at http://helpdesk.fhu.edu.
During the next phase of this project, IT will work to automate the processes of the dashboard, enabling real-time monitoring and alerting. In addition to this, we will increase the number of servers, systems and hardware that we currently monitor.
