Freed–Hardeman University (FHU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, education specialist and doctoral degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of FHU may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at: 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033–4097, by calling 404-679-4500, or by using information available on the SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

State Authorizations

Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FHU is committed to complying with all states’ and federal regulations for its distance learning programs. Freed-Hardeman University has been approved by Tennessee to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. For specific information regarding state authorization, approval, licensure, or exemption, please contact the Associate Vice President for Instruction.

Please note that Freed-Hardeman’s (FHU) programs that may lead to a professional licensure or certification (e.g., Accounting, Behavioral Health, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Teacher Education, etc.) are designed to meet the licensure requirements for the State of Tennessee. The University does not explicitly or implicitly attest that licensure programs meet the licensure requirements for any state other than Tennessee. Please reference the Professional Licensure Certification and Licensure Information section below prior to enrolling in a licensure program to obtain further information, including contact information, for the applicable licensing board in your respective state of residence.

State Contact Information for Complaints

Pursuant to the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Integrity Rules, Freed-Hardeman University must provide to its students or prospective students the contact information for filing complaints with each state licensing entity and any other relevant agency that would handle the complaint.

Professional Licensure Certification and Licensure Information

Pursuant to the Federal Regulation CFR 600 and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, Freed-Hardeman University must provide to non-Tennessee resident students, applicants, and potential students as to whether such courses or programs that customarily leads to professional licensure meets known requirements for licensure in the state where the student resides. Licensing requirements are subject to change; therefore, the contact information for state agencies and a FHU representative have been provided to assist students in determining if a course or program that customarily leads to professional licensure, meets requirements for licensure in the state where the student resides.
