About Cliff Thompson

R. Cliff Thompson serves the university as director of theatre. After completing his M.F.A. at the University of Memphis, Thompson worked professionally in the Memphis theatre community. He then taught college theatre classes for 8 years in north Mississippi before coming to FHU. Favorite directing credits include “The Miracle Worker,” "Macbeth," “Little Shop of Horrors,” "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," “Into the Woods,” “Smash!,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Seagull,” and “Scotland Road.” Acting credits include the Baker in "Into the Woods" and David in "God's Favorite."

Thompson served in leadership for the Southeast Theatre Conference and (www.setc.org) Christians in Theatre Arts (www.cita.org).

He has led groups of students to NYC since 1998. In 2004, Thompson spent the summer working for the Abingdon Theatre, an Off-Broadway theatre in Manhattan’s Garment District. He’s married to Sherry Thompson and is proud of his three children, Robert, Becky and Jon Michael. His long-term goal is to learn to play the accordion, but he’ll settle for a fine set of bagpipes.
