It is our pleasure to announce the theme for the 76th Freed-Hardeman University Lectureship (February 5-10, 2012),
Two Thousand twelve marks the 76th annual Freed-Hardeman University annual Bible
lectureship. The annual lectureship is the highlight of the year for many members of
churches of Christ. Each year the lectureship committee attempts to produce a program of
study which will be challenging and thought provoking.
The theme for the 76th Freed-Hardeman University Lectures is “The Behavior of Belief:
Faith and Life in James to Jude.” The “General Epistles” contain some of the most
practical and challenging teaching found in the pages of Scripture. This year’s lectureship
will examine in detail the significant themes and helpful instruction found in these letters.
It is our hope that we can develop a greater appreciation for the unique contribution these
books make to our understanding of the will of God for our lives.
Each year the lectureship is attended by preachers, elders, deacons, missionaries, women,
university students, and many others. We welcome all of you to this spiritual feast. This
week we will benefit from the wisdom of qualified men and women. This week we will
be able to fellowship with former school mates and friends from the past. Some of you
have given your vacation time to be with us and for this we are deeply grateful. The
success of the annual lectureship is due to so many not the least of whom are our visitors.
Without you we could not have a successful week. The lectureship committee is very
grateful for the help and continued support of all. In a special way, a word of thanks
is due our speakers. They get very little remuneration for their efforts. Without their
sacrifice of time, energy, and financial resources this lectureship would not be possible.
It is expected that their lessons will help all of us develop the kind of faith and life well
pleasing to God.
We welcome all of you and thank you for helping Freed-Hardeman continue to have a
great Bible lectureship each year.
