Using Primary Sources in the Classroom

Historians look at documents and objects as "eyewitnesses to the past," or, primary sources. Primary sources give us a look at the past by the people who created them. Newspapers, photographs, audiovisual even textiles, furniture, and provide a first-hand account of how people lived, thought, and worked in the past.

FHU's Archives & Special Collections are a treasure trove of primary sources. Contact the Archives & Special Collections at archives@fhu.edu for assistance with planning curriculum guides, classroom activity ideas and more, all based on objects and documents right here in town!
