FHU Associates to Host 12th Annual Tea Party

APRIL 24, 2014

The dress-up room is a favorite venue for the youngest guests at the tea party.

Ladies enjoy a Victorian tea party featuring sweet and savory items at the Hardeman House. The annual event raises funds for scholarships at Freed-Hardeman University.

The Victorian Tea Party, an annual event hosted by the Freed-Hardeman University Associates, is scheduled for Saturday, May 3. Ladies of the Henderson area are invited to participate in the tea party experience from 12 to 4 p.m. at the historic N.B. Hardeman House on White Avenue.

Venues will be set up in the Hardeman House to showcase aromatherapy, counted-cross stitch, handmade paper dolls and eggshell teacups. A dress-up area will be available for the little ladies, in addition to croquet and other outdoor games. A portrait photographer will capture memories throughout the afternoon.

The menu features Buckingham Palace tea cookies, sundried tomato pesto sandwiches, whipped feta cucumber sandwiches, Millionaire shortbread, raspberry marshmallows and coconut scones. Peach Lift and Windsor Castle teas will also be served.

General admission tickets are now available. Advance prices are $15 for adults ($18 at the door) and $8 for children aged 3 to 10 ($10 at the door). Admission is free for children two and under. To order tickets, visit the FHU website or call 731-989-6000.

The FHU Associates was formed in 1963 with the purpose of supporting Christian education. All profits from the Victorian Tea Party go toward student scholarships at FHU.
