Local Couples Appointed to Mid-South Youth Camp Board

Two Henderson couples have been named to the Mid-South Youth Camp Advisory Board. Todd and Susan Humphry and Greg and Cathy Maples were appointed by the Freed-Hardeman University Board of Trustees at their meeting Friday, July 22. Seventy-six families are currently represented on the camp board.

Freed-Hardeman University has operated Mid-South Youth Camp since the summer of 1957. The camp is open for eight weeks during the summer and available for year-round retreats. The advisory board meets several times a year to discuss the camp and fundraising ideas. Members conduct fundraisers such as the fishing rodeo, annual MSYC Fish Fry, and a barbecue supper. Members also participate in service days, where they work on camp maintenance.

Todd Humphrey is the Freed-Hardeman University volleyball and softball coach and is the Brewer Sports Center building manager. Susan Humphrey is a volleyball coach and paraprofessional at Chester County High School. The couple has three children: Emily, Jared, and Allie. Emily and Allie have attended Mid-South, where Emily has worked as a junior counselor. The family attends the Henderson Church of Christ.

Greg and Cathy Maples are no strangers to Mid-South Youth Camp. Cathy has been a camper, lifeguard, and counselor at the camp. Greg and Cathy are both employed by Freed-Hardeman University. Greg works as the Director of Network Operations, and Cathy is a receptionist and swimming instructor. The couple’s three children, Macy, Max, and Madlyn, attend Mid-South multiple weeks throughout the summer. The family also attends the Henderson Church of Christ.
