FHU to Pin its Last Associate's Degree Nursing Students

Sixteen Freed-Hardeman University nursing students will be pinned Friday night, May 14, prior to receiving their associate’s degree in nursing Saturday at commencement exercises.

Friday’s ceremony will be the final pinning of students finishing the associate’s degree program at FHU. That program is being phased out with this class. The next pinning will be in 2013 when the first Bachelor of Science in Nursing class graduates.

Pinning is a tradition among schools of nursing. It is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the profession.
