The ladies of the Freed-Hardeman University Associates invite daughters, mothers, grandmothers, and friends to celebrate the tenth-annual Victorian Tea Party Saturday, May 5, 1-4 p.m. The tea will be held at the historic N.B. Hardeman House located on White Avenue in Henderson. In case of rain, the event will move to the Henderson Church of Christ building.
Women of all ages look forward to the Victorian Tea Party each year. Because of its tenth anniversary, the tea party committee has chosen to use past favorite recipes and venues, as well as some new ones. The menu includes traditional cucumber and spicy cheddar pimento sandwiches, white chocolate chip scones with citrus curd and blackberry butter, Buckingham Palace shortbread, strawberry lemonade tarts, Earl Grey truffles, cranberry feta pinwheels, fresh grapes and strawberries, lemonade, Angel’s Dream tea, and Buckingham Palace Garden Party tea. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in several venues, including a paper doll station, dress-up area, tea boutique, croquet, and more. A photographer will be present to capture special moments throughout the afternoon.
Kristen Hicks, one of the coordinators for the tea party, says, “Tea party season is one of my very favorite times of the year. Although many hours of work go into the planning of it, it's always worth it to see the guests enjoying it so completely! Of course, there are plenty of things for little girls to do at the event, but one of my favorite teatime memories is attending the tea party the very first year with my friend Ashley. We sat at our pretty tea table on the porch, enjoyed the delicious food and tea, and just chatted all afternoon. It was perfect! And it still is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with friends, so we encourage the ladies in our community to come join us for a lovely afternoon.”
