Best College Reviews Ranks FHU in Top 10 Best Small Colleges

The ranking service gathered data from the National Center for Education Statistics regarding enrollment, retention, graduation rate, tuition and degrees for the top 50. These were then ranked using a scoring rubric based on 500-2000 undergraduate students, availability of campus housing, graduate degrees offered, better than 50 percent graduation rate, no more than $30,000 tuition, a student to faculty ratio of 15:1 or less, and a 74 percent or higher retention rate to give what they deemed the best small colleges in the nation.

Freed-Hardeman University was recognized in part, the editors said, for taking spirituality seriously since every student has a Bible class each semester and worships daily at chapel. The university was also lauded for the availability of financial aid, an advantageous learning environment, a high retention rate, its proximity to Memphis and Nashville and the quality of student life.

The editors quoted the university’s mission statement: Freed-Hardeman University seeks to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service.
