Broadway Professional to Work with FHU Theatre Students

Henderson, Tenn. - Oct 13, 2016

Freed-Hardeman University students will have the opportunity to work with Broadway professional Laura Osnes Oct. 25, 2016. The culminating event, “Broadway After Class: An Evening with Laura Osnes and Friends,” will be a performance at 7:00pm in FHU’s Old Chapel Hall.

A group of FHU students will work with Osnes for three hours honing their ability to perform at a professional level. That evening they, along with Osnes, will present a program of Broadway favorites and some new songs. Admission to the program is free; however, donations will be accepted. Proceeds will help defray the cost of students’ attending the Southeastern Theatre Conference.

Osnes has been nominated twice for a Tony. In 2012 she was nominated for her work as Bonnie Parker in “Bonnie and Clyde” and in 2013 for her performance in the title role of “Cinderella.” She has also had starring roles in “Grease,” “South Pacific” and “Anything Goes.”

FHU students who will perform include Tansy Matheny, Henderson; Summer Turner, Hebron, Kentucky; Austin England, Henderson; Parker Pearce, Greenfield, Missouri; Amanda Baugh, Franklin, Tennessee; Amanda Menter, Hollister, Missouri; Madison Jobe Darby, Ramer, Tennessee; Shelby Matthews, Bartlett, Tennessee; and Carson Barker, Eustis, Florida.
