Florida Photojournalist to Visit FHU
hotojournalist Joe Burbank, Orlando, Fla., will visit the Freed-Hardeman University campus Sept. 24 to speak with art and journalism majors and to present a program regarding the role of the photojournalist in news making.
Senior photographer at the Orlando Sentinel, Burbank has enjoyed a 30-year career. His work has been published in national newspapers, magazines, television broadcasts and news-content web sites worldwide. His work frequently focuses on Florida politics. He has covered every presidential campaign in Florida over the last 25 years. Most recently, his work has taken him to the courtroom for the trials of Casey Anthony in 2011 and this year, George Zimmerman.
Burbank, who is a friend of FHU theatre director Cliff Thompson, will speak with students throughout the day. The 7 p.m. presentation in Ayers Auditorium in Brown-Kopel Business Center is open to the public. Admission to the lecture is free.
