FHU's Chili Bowl Announces Winners

Freed-Hardeman University Social Club Gamma Tau Omega took home the Grand Champion title at Chili Bowl Numero Cuatro Feb. 1 on the FHU campus. The group won first place for their non-traditional chili and were voted the People’s Choice. A record 20 teams competed in the event hosted by the FHU Office of Alumni Relations, assisted by the Student-Alumni Association.

In addition to tasting the twenty different entries, guests also enjoyed a chocolate bar featuring brownies, cookies, and fondue. FHU students groups, Main Street Fusion and the Gold Brigade, provided entertainment during the event. Brad Montague was the master of ceremonies.

Judges Algene Steele, Kippy Myers and Tim Tenon sampled all of the recipes and ranked them based on aroma, color, consistency and taste. The top three teams in each category: traditional, non-traditional and People’s Choice received trophies.

Winners included the following: traditional: first, Chili Chili Bang Bang; second, Tennessee Children’s Home; third, Sigma Rho; non-traditional: first, Gamma Tau Omega; second, Henderson Police Department; third, Chi Beta Chi; and People’s Choice, first, Gamma Tau Omega; second, Chili Chili Bang Bang; and third, Tennessee Children’s Home.
