Dickson, Tenn. - Nov 03, 2015

Freed-Hardeman University / Dickson will host a continuing education counseling workshop, Nov. 13, from 8:30am to 12:05pm at the university’s Dickson campus at the Renaissance Center. Entitled “Spirituality and Counseling: ‘He Restores My Soul,’” the program will connect theology and psychology.

The workshop will include sessions linking spirituality to mental health. Attendees will participate in practical exercises and thought-provoking group discussion. The program will provide conceptual models and practical strategies for Christian-based counseling.

Ministers and those in the counseling profession are especially invited. The program is designed for individuals providing pastoral counseling.

The workshop will be presented by Dr. Jesse Robertson, FHU assistant professor of Bible and dean of graduate studies and outreach, and Dr. Ryan Fraser, FHU assistant professor of counseling. Both men also serve as pulpit ministers and do ministerial counseling.

Attendees will also be eligible for a $1000 scholarship toward a graduate degree at FHU if they enroll in 2016. FHU’s graduate program in clinical mental health counseling is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and is solely responsible for the workshop.
