A proposal by Freed-Hardeman University’s Dr. Sharen Cypress has been accepted for presentation at the 66th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Colleges of Teacher Education. The meeting will be conducted in Indianapolis, Ind., March 1-3.
Cypress’ presentation is titled, “A Response to the Call for Effective Leadership in Today’s Schools: Three Essentials – Preparation, Competency and Dispositions.” She will co-present with a professor from the University of Memphis, Dr. Reginald L. Green.
According to its website, the AACTE is a national alliance of education preparation programs dedicated to the highest quality of professional development of teachers and school leaders in order to enhance PK-12 student learning.
Cypress, an associate professor of education, currently serves as the dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Science at FHU. In addition to her work at the university, Cypress is also a board member of the Southern Regional Council of Education Administration and a national board examiner for the National Council of Accreditation for Colleges of Teacher Education.
