FHU / Dickson to Offer Post-Baccalaureate Accounting Certificate

Dickson, Tenn. - Apr 25, 2016

Freed-Hardeman University / Dickson will offer a Post-Baccalaureate Accounting Certificate (PBAC) for individuals who have earned a four-year degree in a business discipline other than accounting and are seeking functional competency in the accounting field. In combination with the previously earned baccalaureate degree in business, this program meets the academic eligibility criteria for admission to take the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in Tennessee.

“This program provides an opportunity for individuals who already have a four-year business degree to prepare for the CPA exam without getting a second degree,” Dr. Dan Wade, director of academic programs at Dickson, said. “For many, this is a quicker option.”

The certificate requires a minimum of 24 semester hours of upper division accounting courses with at least 18 credit hours completed at FHU. Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in the FHU coursework needed for the certificate.

Students must apply and be accepted into the university. Courses will begin in the Fall 2016 semester in Dickson and are mostly in an eight-week, hybrid format. Work for the certificate can be completed in two years.
