FHU Fitness Center Gets Facelift Thanks to Jack Bulliner Fund

Henderson, Tennessee - May 10, 2017

Freed-Hardeman University’s Main Street Fitness Center recently received a facelift thanks to a gift from the Jack Bulliner Endowment Fund.

Jim Clayton, chairman and founder of Clayton BanCorp Inc., established the fund to honor the late Jack Bulliner for his years of service to the community. Bulliner was elected president of First State Bank in 1970 and chairman of the board in 1977, a position he held for 25 years. In 2002 the bank became a division of Clayton Bank and Trust.

Freed-Hardeman University chose to use the gift to improve the appearance of the student fitness center. The exterior of the building was painted and a new awning installed. In addition, new equipment was purchased and the interior was updated.

“As citizens of Henderson, we wanted to be a part of the initiative to make Main Street more appealing,” FHU President Joe Wiley said. “This generous gift allowed us to improve the fitness facility. We are particularly pleased that it honors the memory of a dedicated community servant.”
