FHU Sets Graduation for May 14

Henderson, Tenn. - May 05, 2016

Author and preacher Jay Lockhart of Whitehouse, Texas, will speak at Freed-Hardeman University’s spring commencement Saturday, May 14, at 10am in Loyd Auditorium. Lockhart is also an alumnus of FHU and a member of the university’s Board of Trustees.

More than 250 students are expected to receive degrees, including the first graduates of FHU / Dickson.

In addition, the winner of the 2016 Faculty Scholarship-Leadership Medal will be announced. Selected by a vote of the entire faculty, the medal is the highest honor bestowed by the faculty.

Lockhart began his preaching career in 1956 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. In the years since, he has preached at various churches in Kentucky and Texas. He currently serves as both an elder and the preacher at the Whitehouse Church of Christ.

In addition to his preaching, Lockhart is the author of a commentary on Ephesians as a part of the Truth for Today series. He is the co-author, along with Clarence DeLoach, of a new  book, “The Glory of Preaching,” which emphasizes the importance of expository preaching. Lockhart is also one of the editors of Think Magazine published by Focus Press.
