FHU Students to Arrive on Campus Beginning Aug. 20

Henderson, Tenn. - Aug 16, 2016

Freed-Hardeman University students will be “welcomed home” Saturday, Aug. 20, when residence halls open for new students.

In addition to having a cadre of returning students, faculty and staff to help them move into their home-away-from-home, new students will have the opportunity to learn about campus services and organizations at FHU 101 in the Commons from 10:00am until 2:00pm. A free cookout for them and their parents will be served 11:00am - 1:30pm. It’s all a part of the university’s annual “Welcome Home.”

Local businesses are also invited to have displays regarding their wares or services at Welcome Home. Those interested may contact Donna Steele at 731-989-6001.

New students will begin Interface, a period of orientation including informational sessions and recreational opportunities, Saturday evening. Those who have not yet registered for classes will be able to do so Monday, Aug. 22.

Residence halls will be open for continuing students Aug. 21 and those who have not completed their registration will be able to do so Tuesday, Aug. 23.

All students, as well as faculty, staff and visitors, will participate in the annual Tolling of the Bell ceremony Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 10:30am in Loyd Auditorium. Former FHU president Milton Sewell and former first lady Laurel Sewell, along with Keith Mattix, II, a new student, have been selected as Masters of the Bell.

Fall semester classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 24.
