Henderson, Tenn. - Jun 28, 2016

Freed-Hardeman University recognized the anniversary classes of 1966, 1961, 1956, 1951, 1946 and 1941 June 15-17 on its campus. The Freed-Hardeman Golden Year Reunion is for anyone who attended or graduated from Freed-Hardeman at least fifty years ago (1966 or before).

Alumni had the opportunity to visit the FHU Campus to interact with old friends and hear lessons presented by Dr. Milton Sewell (’62), Mrs. Laurel Sewell, Dr. Mark Blackwelder (’91), President Joe Wiley, and Dr. Doug Burleson (’99).

The three-day event included a tour of the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center, breakfast with President Wiley at his home, devotionals, fellowship, singing, a church service at North Jackson Church of Christ and many other opportunities for alumni to reconnect with their former classmates.

Awards were given to those celebrating 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70-year reunions Friday, June 17, at the Academic Resource Center during a banquet ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Special guest David Tarbet discussed the rare, ancient Bible collection he and his wife Paula gave to the university.

Alumni also had the opportunity to fuel the Legacy Project, which is designed to help preserve the history and heritage of FHU through sharing stories and memories.
