Don't Miss Horizons, July 5-10

Horizons is a week-long spiritual experience for students in grades 7th – 12th held each summer on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University. This July 5-10 marks the 29th year of the camp that started as the Future Church Leaders Workshop.

“The focus that started the program 29 years ago continues to this day as we strive to create an encouraging environment that works to equip young church leaders,” said David Powell, assistant dean of the FHU School of Biblical Studies. Powell serves along with Hope Shull, director of Loden-Daniel library as the leadership behind this powerful program. The two are assisted by David Baker, Kim Cook, Chris Creecy, Brad Montague and Becky Welch and an excellend staff of more than 100 teachers and counselors. Dr. Billy R. Smith, dean of the FHU School of Biblical Studies serves in an advisory role.

This year’s theme is Wonderful, Merciful Savior and will provide attendees with classes, activities, group discussions and more all centered around a study of who the real Jesus Christ was and is. “We feel that little could be more important that spending time getting to know who our wonderful, merciful Savior really is,” said Powell.  Each day will be filled with exciting activities on campus and will include dynamic speakers and worship with hundreds of Christian young people.

Youth Ministers and students are urged to register by going online to www.fhu.edu/horizons. Space is limited and will fill up quick. Registration closes on July 1. For more information visit the Horizons website or call 1 (800) FHU-FHU1.
