Christian Training Series to Feature Author

Freed-Hardeman University’s Christian Training Series, July 10-14, will feature two classes by preacher, missionary, and author Jeff Abrams. He will teach Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 12, at 3 p.m. His topic will be “Gossip: The Causes, the Consequences, and the Cure.”

Longtime missionary to the Ukraine, Abrams is the author of “Sticks and Stones: A Study of Hurtful Words and Helpful Remedies.” Don Meyers, assistant professor of Bible at Faulkner University, calls the book “a hard-hitting, non-fat, no-fluff treatment of one of the most insidious hazards facing Christians—the tongue.”

FHU Dean of Biblical Studies Billy Smith says, “Like the title of this book? So do I! It is a book long overdue for everyone, especially for those in the church.”

Abrams, a 1985 graduate of Freed-Hardeman, holds a Bachelor of Science in Bible. He currently preaches for the Tuscumbia Church of Christ in Tuscumbia, Ala.

Dubbed “continuing education for Christians,” CTS includes classes for adults, devotional periods, fun, and fellowship. Those interested may learn more about this opportunity for spiritual growth by going to fhu.edu/cts.
