Freed-Hardeman University has named Wade Osburn library director, effective immediately. He has been the interim director since the death last year of former director Hope Shull.
Osburn, a member of FHU’s library staff since 2002, has been the reference and theological librarian. He holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Divinity from Abilene Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from Harding University.
He is directing the library at a time of explosive growth. Construction on the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center, which will more than double the space of the current facility, is slated to begin this summer.
As a part of that project, the current library holdings will be moved to a temporary location for fourteen months. Approximately one-third of the holdings and library staff will move to the first floor of Draughon Education Center where audio-visual materials are currently held. The remaining holdings will be stored in the former Laycook Preschool Center.
