MARCH 18, 2014
Makin’ Music 2014 is sure to impress as social clubs, hosts and emcees encourage the audience to “Sing It Out.” More than 500 students will be participating in Freed-Hardeman University’s largest student production, set for April 11-12 in Loyd Auditorium.
Each of FHU’s six social clubs: Chi Beta Chi, Gamma Tau Omega, Phi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Rho, Theta Nu and Xi Chi Delta, will compete in seven-minute shows for the Makin’ Music sweepstakes trophy. Shows are judged on such categories as lyrics, blocking and staging, vocals and costumes/set design.
In between club shows, the hosts and hostesses will perform with the accompaniment of the Makin’ Music Showband. The hosts and hostesses are Maddie Alden of College Grove, Tenn.; Taylor Bell of Houston, Texas; Grace Gardner of Cleveland, Tenn.; Britlyn Jarrett of Gallatin, Tenn.; Payton Smith of Rossville, Ga.; and Tucker Vincent of Gallatin, Tenn.
Emcees, who entertain the audience with videos and skits, are Coleman Smith of Dora, Mo., Jenna Smith of Pacific, Mo., and Graham Stovall of Nashville. Spencer Morris of Cottontown, Tenn., will serve as the “Voice” of Makin’ Music.
Coordinators and staff members work behind the scenes to make Makin’ Music a successful production. Coordinators Jonathan Davis of Tullahoma, Tenn., Tommy Genduso of Apex, N.C., and Barkley Logan of Nashville, Tenn., manage a staff of eleven students who execute various tasks before and during Makin’ Music weekend.
Show times for Makin’ Music are Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 12, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets for Makin’ Music 2014, visit MakinMusicTickets.com.
