Mr. Ryan Malecha
Philanthropy, giving, charity, and consistency—to Ryan Malecha, these are more than just words. They define his position at Freed-Hardeman, and more than that, his Christian walk.
The ultimate goal of FHU is to serve its students, and as the Regional Development Director, Ryan Malecha does just that. Annual giving is one of the most crucial elements to Freed-Hardeman’s fundraising efforts, a cause that provides for the needs of every student on our campus. When it comes to understanding and serving our students, there is no better man for the job than Ryan Malecha.
A graduate of Freed-Hardeman himself, Mr. Malecha has a story similar to many current students. “I was living in Minnesota and looking for a good Christian college. A man visiting our church one Wednesday night asked if I had ever heard of FHU. I came to visit and became a student in 2005.” From that point on, Mr. Malecha was hooked. “I enjoyed FHU so much I was elated to have the opportunity to stay and work here after graduation.” To Mr. Malecha, Freed-Hardeman provides the unique benefit of always being surrounded by other Christians. “I feel very fortunate,” he mentioned candidly. “I don’t have to deal with working in an environment that is not conducive to building Christian character.”
Mr. Malecha graduated from FHU with a B.A. in Bible and is currently working on an MBA in Corporate Governance and Accountability. He is married to Lauren Malecha, another graduate of FHU, and has a wide variety of interests in anything from John Grisham novels to whitewater rafting and skydiving. He dreams of one day being able to visit Australia and swim by the Great Barrier Reef, but he affectionately admits that he has already had his life’s greatest achievement: “I married well. Lauren is amazing.” The Malechas live in Henderson with their two dogs, Charlie and Kate.
