AUGUST 5, 2013
Freed-Hardeman University/Memphis invites potential students and the public to attend an open house Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Bucy Center, 5565 Shelby Oaks Drive. Directors of the various programs will be available to provide information and answer questions.
The university has significantly expanded its programs in Memphis to include all graduate degrees as well as an undergraduate degree completion program, according to Dr. Jesse Robertson, dean of graduate studies and outreach. The satellite program provides a combination of on-campus, online, web conference and hybrid courses in the greater Memphis area. Graduate degrees in Bible, business, education and counseling are available. In addition, students with an associate’s degree can complete a Bachelor of Business Administration in as little as 18 months in the Memphis program. Additional information about the programs may be found at fhu.edu/Memphis.
As an incentive for new graduate students, the university is offering a special tuition rate for Fall 2013. New students who enroll in six or more graduate hours this fall will receive a tuition waiver for three of the hours. The university is making the “6 for 3” offer to encourage new students to try graduate courses. “It is an excellent opportunity to find out if graduate school is a good option for them,” Robertson said. Scholarships are available for the B.B.A. Degree Completion Program.
In addition to the open house, the university plans an orientation for current students Aug. 10, beginning at 8 a.m. Program directors and representatives of financial aid and the library will provide information. At 1 p.m. students will attend sessions for their specific programs.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits FHU to offer master’s and education specialist’s degrees. In addition, the National Council for Teacher Education accredits the teacher education program, and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs accredits the business program.
