Mid-South Youth Camp to Host Youth Fishing Rodeo

Mid-South Youth Camp will host its 18th Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. More than $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

Registration for the event takes place from 8 – 8:45 a.m. at the campsite, which is located off of Highway 45, about three and a half miles north of Henderson. Entry fee is $15.

Contestants will be divided into three age categories: ages 5–8, ages 9–12, and ages 13–16. Up to two fishing rods are permitted per child.

Prizes in each age category for most overall weight caught include: first place, $150; second place, $125; third place, $100; fourth and fifth place will receive gift cards. An additional $50 prize for catching the largest fish overall will be awarded.

FHU acquired MSYC in 1964. The 77-acre campsite is in operation for eight weeks each summer. Facilities include cabins, small teaching shelters, a large pavilion, a crafts building, gym, bathhouses, and a swimming pool. A five-acre lake is available for boating and fishing and plenty of outdoor space may be used for hiking and other outdoor activities.
