Two young Freed-Hardeman cross country teams have shown continual improvement throughout the 2012 season.
The Lady Lions, despite being without last season’s top runner (Sloan Scott, out with an injury), are coming off the season’s best races finishing 10th of 15 teams at the Choctaw Invitational.
Each of the their last three races has seen runners set new personal best times, including senior Hannah Leach, who posted a time of 21:09 to shatter her previous PR by 42 seconds. Other Lady Lions who have set new personal bests are Jordan Holloway, Krista Spiceland, Paige Atkinson, Jordan Saliba, Anna DeBerry and Kierra Male.
The men are also seeing similar improvements with four runners setting new PR’s at the Union (Tenn.) University Invitational Oct. 6: Josh Cornett, Drew Crews, Evan Farley and Jason King.
Sophomore Christean Covington has been the team’s top finisher in all of their races this fall.
Both teams finished third in the conference tournament.
