Despite working six new starters into the lineup, the Freed-Hardeman Lion soccer team still managed to put together a winning season finishing the year with a record of 9-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the American Midwest Conference.
The Lions started off the season hot, winning their first five contests including a 3-2 victory over Park (Mo.) in their first match in the AMC. Park went on to win the conference.
Even in their losses, the Lions were still very much in those matches. Five of the team's seven losses were by one goal, and two of those came in overtime.
Sophomore Christopher Campbell (St. Andrew, Jamaica) led the team in goals with seven and tied for the team lead in total points with 19 along with freshman Sam Simpson (Dublin, Ireland), who posted a team-leading nine assists along with five goals. Scoring was spread out this season with 12 different players notching goals.
Seniors Klyne Fawcett (Bolivar, Tenn.) and Hunter Yoches (Chuluota, Fla.) finished their careers at FHU.
